On Perturbation Theory

Abstract：
Perturbation theory is one of the most important and provinsing approximate methods for solving chemical problems. This paper takes up the perturbation theory in four parts. Part 1 gives the development of the theory during the past two decades. Part 2 brief-ly discusses the basic principles of the perturbation theory. Part 3 summarizes the accomplishments of the perturbation method in pre-sent day chemistry. In the last part, a few predictions are made on what the theory can do to help solving chemical problems.
