Abstract:

This study examines the relationships among social participation, successful aging, and life satisfaction in Taiwanese middle-aged and older adults, highlighting successful aging as a potential mediator. Focusing on residents in Taipei’s Da’an and Zhongzheng Districts, the research utilizes a convenience sampling method, yielding 238 valid responses from 106 males (44.5%) and 132 females (55.5%). This study conducted an in-depth analysis of these relationships using Mediation Analysis. The findings reveal that: (1) social participation has a positive association with life satisfaction; (2) social participation fosters successful aging; (3) successful aging contributes significantly to life satisfaction; and (4) successful aging fully mediates the impact of social participation on life satisfaction. These insights underscore the importance of fostering active social engagement to support well-being among Taiwan’s aging population, providing valuable implications for policymakers and community stakeholders.
